Ulm

Wybralam sie ostatnio do Ulm, najblizszego wiekszego miasta w okolicy. Byl to rowniez dzien rozy, piekne kolory, zapachy i ogromny wybor kwiatow.
Dobra kawa i ksiazki, zawsze pomagaja:)

I went to Ulm recently, nearest bigger town in the area. I don't miss urban smells, noise and the large amounts of people at once, though I have to admit, for a moment I enjoyed the city's charms. It was a market day, whole square in front of Cathedral had to accommodate  flea market, food trucks and grocery stalls, with the most popular in season: asparagus, strawberries and cherries. This was also the day of Rose Festival, beautiful colours, smells and a huge selection of flowers. Seeing all of this so close to the Cathedral I could not help but to associate it with a scene from the New Testament (by the way - Jesus, too, was in Ulm for sale). The Cathedral tower in Ulm measures 161,5m which makes it the highest Christian religious building in the world. So much was happening on the outside, I was not tempted to go inside. Next time I will climb the 768 stairs and maybe I will be lucky enough to see the Swiss Alps.
On the way to the Donau I also stumbled at the Festival of Cultures, and after that I had to escape from city noise to cosy coffee shop in a bookstore. Coffee and books, always help :)
Krol sezonu. Seasonal king.

Der Umgebung - woda

Ostatnie upaly sklonily mnie do poznawania okolic, gdzie mozna sie ochlodzic.

The recent heatwave encouraged me to explore places where man can cool down. My favourite spot so far is a small natural lake where I can swim with swans and then chill on soft grass. On one of my short walks I also discovered rocky beach by Donau near the house - 5 min walk and I can teleport myself to a different dimension (pebbles do it to me).

Dunaj. Donau.

Jeder Kiesel erzahlt eine Geschichte.

Munderkingen

Praktycznie cala starowka znajduje sie w malowniczym zakolu Dunaju, ktory jest tu calkiem szeroki (jestem wzglednie blisko zrodla i przed przyjazdem spodziewalam sie widoku duzo wezszej rzeki). Jezyk okazal sie mniejszym problemem niz myslalam, jednak usmiech nawet taki z aparatem i diastema jest najskuteczniejszym srodkiem komunikacyjnym w obcym kraju i potrafi wiele zalatwic.

After a lazy but cosy winter in Poland it's time for change of scenes. This time life brought me to Munderkingen in Germany, small town near Ulm, situated in Baden - Wurttemberg  (the most south-west region of Germany). Most of the old town is surrounded by curving Donau which makes it very picturesque place. Before I came here I thought that river won't be so wide as it's fairly close to it's source but was surprised to see I was wrong. Starks are town symbol and there's a lot of them here: a real one has got a nest on unused town hall chimney and the rest "decorates" the centre. One of them has photos of babies that were born in Munderkingen on it, it seems to international story then. So far no one was able to explain to me why the starks are connected with this place. I was a bit shocked to see what looked like Christmas Tree high up on a pole in main square so late in the year but it turned out to be " the spring tree" - traditionally put up on April the 31st to celebrate beginning of spring. As for a small town one can find everything that's necessary for comfortable life, people are very friendly, it's close nearly everywhere, living here is very pleasant. From what I can notice (not for the first time) things are simple, well thought through and designed and user friendly in Germany.
The language wasn't such a big problem as I thought it would be, although for a very few first days I felt like an idiot trying to communicate what I had in mind. Smile proves to be the best mean of communication wherever I go, even a special one with braces on and "charming" diastema. My German is better every day, luckily I have a lot of time for learning and few good books, I also needed and still need time to get used to Schwabish accent. I'm starting to realise that some words which I thought are new to me are words I knew for long time just said with hard accent.
This is my favourite season for exploring new places so soon I will upload some photos of idyllic surroundings.

Ryneczek. The market place.

Bociany. Starks.(but winter is not coming)

Wiosenne drzewko. The spring tree.

Dunaj przy domu. Donau, by the house.

My street: on the right neighbor's wine shop, and next to it my new temporary home (just the roof visible).

Rododendronowo

I think it's a bit too late to see the rhododendrons in blossom in Arboretum Wojslawice but it's worth seeing. This year I got there just on time.

Autumn variety

Ponizej kilka zdjec sezonowych kolorow Polski i Hiszpanii.

I divide Autumn in two periods: late-summer Autumn and early-winter Autumn. I really like the first period and this year it was surprisingly warm and dry. The past form used as the late-summer one gives away to early-winter. I managed to go for few long mushroom picking walks in the forest and thanks to H&H listen to the deer rut - it's like traveling in time to another era.  I always liked the late -summer Autumn with the beautiful intense colours and smells - real feast for senses.
At the end of October we met for a week in south of Spain, amazing time. Such a good feeling to jump on a plain and escape to hot place, even for a short while. I sneaked some sunshine back to Poland, some on my skin and some in heart - still works.
Below few pictures on Poolside and Spanish seasonal colours.

Z THE CAKE na zakonczenie.

Kingdom of Bumblebees

Mamy rowniez nowego przyjaciela - Roger the Rat.

For a while now I have only 2 hours per day to leave my home-workplace which encourages me to have close encounters with nature in the garden. Since the beginning of March the most prominent sound is the one of working bumblebees, they just love it here. I have never seen so many of them in one place. I noticed that violet flowers seem to be their favourite and it's fun to watch few of them fighting over one chive flower;) There is a beautiful and delicate flowery plant climbing the south wall of the house, as seen in the picture below, which gives a shelter to all  sorts of living creatures. Apart from my favourite bees we find a lot of snails stack to the windows, pretending they are not there. In frequent moments of morning laziness I watch them crawl form the other side of the window - super.
We have a new friend recently - Roger the Rat. Roger appeared few weeks ago, just sat opposite Zoltan, divided only by glass door, and continued to nibble on something. His first hiding place was somewhere in between the house and plants but he moved out recently, still popping in from time to time. Hi isn't one of those big black city rats form movies about plague, more like a chubby brown field rat - I like him of course and always he's always welcomed by my smile:)
Not to mention all the birds, morning belongs to magpies, blackbirds and wood pigeons rule in the evening, red robins come from time to time and one more beautiful bird with blue endings of wings  which I can't identify. A big green garden next to the house - that's what Tiggers like the best. I wish all of you have a pleasure of spending time in one.
