Le petit bleu

Pierwsza ksiazka, ktora przeczytalam tu w orginale byla legenda "Die schone Lau" Eduarda Morike zwiazana  z Blautopf w Blaubern.
Nauczylam sie z niej kilku przydatnych niemieckich slow: pastuszek, czary, niewidzialny. Z historii pochodzi tez jeden z niemieckich lamancow jezykowych, a wlasciwie szwabskich:
"Glei bei Blaubeira leit a Kletzle Blei -
´s leit a Kletzle Blei glei bei Blaubeira"

The first book I read here in orginal was the legend of "Die Schone Lau" Eduard Mörike connected with Blautopf in Blaubern.  In particular, the story of the Schöne Lau, a mermaid, and her husband, a male water-nix from the Black Sea, is told in great detail. Because the Schöne Lau could not laugh, the nix punished her by confining her to the Blautopf, and only allowing her to have still-born children. He would only allow her to return and give birth to a living child once she had laughed five times. In the end, the landlady of the inn Nonnenhof came to her aid. I learned from it so many useful German words: shepherd, spells, invisible. With this story comes also one of the German tongue twisters, in Swabian dialect:
"Glei bei Blaubeira leit and Kletzle Blei -
Kletzle's leit and Glei bei Blei Blaubeira "
I found out about this place from Hanka and as it was the last Sunday before leaving for home, I had to check it out. Blautopf (Blue Pot) is the second largest spring in Germany, giving beginning to Blau river, which empties into the Danube. The spring has a funnel shape and is very deep - 21 meters. It's surrounded by scenic Swabian  Alps, and it owes it's beautiful azure color to limestone rocks, which also form a system of underwater caves. The most famous of them are Blauhohle and Apocalypse, but there is a whole labyrinth of underground caves as well as underground river - Urblau (Ur - primary), Germany's most mysterious river. Apparently, the we men was able to explore only 10% of this system so far.
Generally a very pleasant place for a lazy Sunday trip, small and  charming town with an inconspicuous azure lake.
The cherry on the cake was a middle-aged  man, Turkish origin who was selling  cherries straight from the open trunk of an old car, whistling  famous "Whistle Song" from Kill Bill. He didn't fit to all the rest so much, one had to smile:)

Die schone Lau. Piekna Lau. The beautiful Lau.

 A pod ziemia podobno: Urblau.

Slodki zapach lipy / Sweet scent of linden

The best time to harvest linden flowers, the scent of linden tree reminds me of my grandmother, childhood and road to the plot. Equipped with containers I used the opportunity and I went to find the right tree, my day off happened to be the first day of summer. After the last few days spent on  more urban pleasures such a change of scenery was divine. Luckily there are a lot of fields around here and after short walk I found the perfect tree, in isolation from roads and cars. I found the perfect tree and collected treasures listening to bumblebees buzzing around - they always know the good stuff. Linden flowers are supposedly great for treating colds, I have not checked that on myself as luckily I haven't caught one for a very long time. I just drink linden brew in the winter, because it's so delicious, and the smell lifts mood immediately, when the weather is gloomy.Charged with positive energy, I also headed down for nettle seeds. Last year I read that they are great source of amino acids and good oils so I gathered some for trial. Later I regretted that I got so little, soups with the addition of nettle seeds are the best. This time I hope I got enough. On the way back I noticed horsetail, which also landed in my bag :) Stocks for the winter done. Hilde watched my collection carefully. To finish a wonderful free food day Wild Cherry presented me with sweet ripe fruit, and a fox came to say hi. As it turned out the others also had a close encounter with a fox at the same time in another place.

Testosteron w Munderkingen

W ten weekend miasteczko opanowali mezczyzni, z okazji Dni Munderkingen odbyl sie tu pokaz TIRow oraz Deutschland Strongman Cup. Atmosfera byla przasna, muzyka, zapach kielbasek, piwo i polerowanie aut.

This weekend belonged to man, on the occasion of Munderkingen Days there was a truck show and Deutschland Strongman Cup. The atmosphere was specific, folk music, smell of sausages, beer and making the cars look as shiny as possible. So many different types of strongman: from overgrown muscular types to couch patatoe types... It's so good they all left.

Ulm

Wybralam sie ostatnio do Ulm, najblizszego wiekszego miasta w okolicy. Byl to rowniez dzien rozy, piekne kolory, zapachy i ogromny wybor kwiatow.
Dobra kawa i ksiazki, zawsze pomagaja:)

I went to Ulm recently, nearest bigger town in the area. I don't miss urban smells, noise and the large amounts of people at once, though I have to admit, for a moment I enjoyed the city's charms. It was a market day, whole square in front of Cathedral had to accommodate  flea market, food trucks and grocery stalls, with the most popular in season: asparagus, strawberries and cherries. This was also the day of Rose Festival, beautiful colours, smells and a huge selection of flowers. Seeing all of this so close to the Cathedral I could not help but to associate it with a scene from the New Testament (by the way - Jesus, too, was in Ulm for sale). The Cathedral tower in Ulm measures 161,5m which makes it the highest Christian religious building in the world. So much was happening on the outside, I was not tempted to go inside. Next time I will climb the 768 stairs and maybe I will be lucky enough to see the Swiss Alps.
On the way to the Donau I also stumbled at the Festival of Cultures, and after that I had to escape from city noise to cosy coffee shop in a bookstore. Coffee and books, always help :)
Krol sezonu. Seasonal king.

Ratusz. Town Hall.

W tle najwyzsza chrzescijanska wieza swiata, na pierwszym planie pokryta cudowna " smocza luska" naddunajska wieza.
In the background the Cathedral Tower, in front awesome tower covered with dragon  husk. (too much GOT).

Kamuflaz. Camouflage.

Der Umgebung - woda

Ostatnie upaly sklonily mnie do poznawania okolic, gdzie mozna sie ochlodzic.

The recent heatwave encouraged me to explore places where man can cool down. My favourite spot so far is a small natural lake where I can swim with swans and then chill on soft grass. On one of my short walks I also discovered rocky beach by Donau near the house - 5 min walk and I can teleport myself to a different dimension (pebbles do it to me).

Dunaj. Donau.

Jeder Kiesel erzahlt eine Geschichte.

Munderkingen

Praktycznie cala starowka znajduje sie w malowniczym zakolu Dunaju, ktory jest tu calkiem szeroki (jestem wzglednie blisko zrodla i przed przyjazdem spodziewalam sie widoku duzo wezszej rzeki). Jezyk okazal sie mniejszym problemem niz myslalam, jednak usmiech nawet taki z aparatem i diastema jest najskuteczniejszym srodkiem komunikacyjnym w obcym kraju i potrafi wiele zalatwic.

After a lazy but cosy winter in Poland it's time for change of scenes. This time life brought me to Munderkingen in Germany, small town near Ulm, situated in Baden - Wurttemberg  (the most south-west region of Germany). Most of the old town is surrounded by curving Donau which makes it very picturesque place. Before I came here I thought that river won't be so wide as it's fairly close to it's source but was surprised to see I was wrong. Starks are town symbol and there's a lot of them here: a real one has got a nest on unused town hall chimney and the rest "decorates" the centre. One of them has photos of babies that were born in Munderkingen on it, it seems to international story then. So far no one was able to explain to me why the starks are connected with this place. I was a bit shocked to see what looked like Christmas Tree high up on a pole in main square so late in the year but it turned out to be " the spring tree" - traditionally put up on April the 31st to celebrate beginning of spring. As for a small town one can find everything that's necessary for comfortable life, people are very friendly, it's close nearly everywhere, living here is very pleasant. From what I can notice (not for the first time) things are simple, well thought through and designed and user friendly in Germany.
The language wasn't such a big problem as I thought it would be, although for a very few first days I felt like an idiot trying to communicate what I had in mind. Smile proves to be the best mean of communication wherever I go, even a special one with braces on and "charming" diastema. My German is better every day, luckily I have a lot of time for learning and few good books, I also needed and still need time to get used to Schwabish accent. I'm starting to realise that some words which I thought are new to me are words I knew for long time just said with hard accent.
This is my favourite season for exploring new places so soon I will upload some photos of idyllic surroundings.

Ryneczek. The market place.

Bociany. Starks.(but winter is not coming)

Wiosenne drzewko. The spring tree.

Dunaj przy domu. Donau, by the house.

My street: on the right neighbor's wine shop, and next to it my new temporary home (just the roof visible).

Rododendronowo

I think it's a bit too late to see the rhododendrons in blossom in Arboretum Wojslawice but it's worth seeing. This year I got there just on time.
