Prelude to holidays

Wiem, ze juz troche pozno na wstep do wakacji, ale wczesniej jakos nie bylo czasu na wpisy. Kilka lipcowych dni spedzilismy w domu rodzicow A., w domu przy lesie w malej wsi pod Opolem. Boskie miejsce - mozna cieszyc sie natura, oderwac sie od miasta i wdychac piekny zapach lasu i pol. Byla to taka proba przed wspolnym planowanym wypadem na dluzsze wakacje, taki sprawdzian czy nie wykonczymy sie nerwowo przebywajac ze soba tak dlugo-  wyszlismy z niej zwyciesko. Wazna czescia proby bylo przyzwyczajanie Bobka do siedzenia w przyczepce rowerowej. Pierwsza wyprawa byla dosc halasliwa, ale pozniej bylo juz tylko lepiej. Pojechalismy przez las pelen komarow do pieknego palacu w Mosznej, gdzie nasz spokoj zostal zaklocony przez fotografow ustawiajacych panstwa mlodych do zdjecia. Bobek skorzystal z kapieli w jeziorze, nawet labedzia rodzina obserwujaca go jak potencjalnego agresora mu nie przeszkadzala. Mysle jednak, ze najlepszym punktem pobytu oprocz towarzystwa byly chyba wspolne sniadania na swiezym powietrzu:)) To byl prawdziwy poczatek wakacji.

I realise it's a bit late to write a prelude to holidays but I somehow didn't have time to do it earlier.We spent few of hot July days in a house of A.'s parents in a little village by the forest. amazing place - we could enjoy being so close to the nature, had a break from city and could finally breathe some sweet forest air. It was a kind of a trial before the longer holidays which we were planning to spent together, to see if we want drive one another crazy - and we passed it. The important part of this trail was to check how Bobek will behave sitting in his little carriage behind the bike. First trip was a bit noisy but then he started to get used to it. We cycled through a forest full of mosquitoes to a beautiful palace in Moszna, where are peaceful moments were disturbed by two photographers giving very precise instructions to young married couple. Bobek had a bath in a lake and he didn't even mind the swan family looking at him like at a potential aggressor. But I think that the best part of being there (apart from the company) were breakfasts which we used to have outdoors and celebrate this moments:)) That was a real beginning of the holiday time.

Bournemouth vibe in Wroclaw

At the end of June we had a special visit here in Wroclaw - Daniel vel Marian and Gosia came with Jeremi. It was time full of joy and good fun, seeing things from different perspective again and exchange of ideas. We were lucky with the weather and they had a chance to see the city attractions;)) Being around Jeremi (and his parents of course) is a pleasure, he's one in a kind. He's a free child,  bound by less rules then average and it's amazing to be able to explore the world. I only have this feeling towards a few children around and it's so strong that Luke is getting worried! Below photos from the visit as the words will sound too iddylique.
Seeing people we met in Bournemouth brought back good memories  - miss you sometimes;) Bournemouth friends - look after yourselves amigos!

Pod koniec czerwca  Wroclaw zostal odwiedzony przez bardzo wyjatkowe osoby - Daniel vel Marian i Gosia przyjechali z Jeremim. Byl to czas pelen radosci i dobrej zabawy, spojrzenia na pewne sprawy z innej perspektywy  oraz wymiany pomyslow. Mielismy szczescie z pogoda i goscie mieli szanse zobaczyc atrakcje miasta W.;)) Przebywanie w towarzystwie Jeremiego (oraz jego rodzicow oczywiscie) jest czysta przyjemnoscia, wyjatkowa mala osobka. Jest wolnym dzieckiem, ograniczonym mniejsza iloscia zakazow niz przecietne dziecko i odkrywanie swiata wraz  z nim jest niezapomnianym doswiadczeniem. Niewielka liczba dzieci wyzwala we mnie takie uczucia i sa one tak mocne, ze Luke zaczyna sie martwic! Ponizej kilka zsjec z wizyty jako, ze slowa byly zbyt iddyliczne.
Wizyta osób, które poznaliśmy w Bournemouth przywołała dobre wspomnienia z teog miejsca - tesknimy za Wami czasem;) znajomi z Bournemouth - dbajcie o siebie!

Half- marathon which nearly took place/ Polmaraton, ktory prawie sie odbyl

The Day came and Luke and Sebastian were ready to take part in a first night half-marathon in Wroclaw - 21km through the city, 4000 people. Nowak and myself shared the pleasure of preparing goodies for after-run picniand got there with all the suprises, the cheering team was on their positions when we heard that the start will be postponed by half an hour. Another warm-up, ready on the positions and another lovely news the start postponed by another hour. By that time the moods became worse and the sport spirit almost flew away but they were still waiting, ready to run later. In the end the whole event was canceled apparently the preparation of the route wasn't sufficient from the safety point of few;) Some were angry, some relieved, as we got to know big group run anyway ignoring the officials. Big embarrassment for the city. Our choice was an easy one to make - happy consumption of the food - and the picnic begun. Sebastian and Luke got their medals anyway:)).

W koncu nadszedl Ten Dzien i Luke z Sebastianem byli gotowi do przebiegniecia pierwszego wroclawskiego polmaratonu. - 21km przez miasto, 4000 uczestnikow. Nowak i ja podzielilysmy sie przyjemnoscia przygotownia pysznosci na pomaratonowy piknik i dotarlysmy na pozycje ze wszystkimi daniami, druzyna wspierajaca byla juz na miejscach kiedy uslyszelismy, ze start bedzie opozniony o pol godziny. Kolejna rozgrzewka, gotowosc na pozycjach i kolejna wspaniala wiadomosc - tym razem godzinne opoznienie. Do tego czasu humory zdazyly sie pogorszyc, sportowy duch tez zaczal sie ulatniac, ale wciaz czekali, gotowi do biegu pozniej. W koncu odwolano cala impreze - podobno trasa nie byla odpowiednio zabezpieczona. Niektorzy sie wkurzyli, inni poczuli ulge, jak sie pozniej dowiedzielismy duza grupa pobiegla ignorujac zakaz wladz. Wstyd dla miasta. . Nasz wybor byl prosty - radosna konsumpcja jedzenia - i tak zaczal sie piknik. Sebastain i Luke i tak dostali medale:)).

The land of blossoming acacia / Kraj kwitnacej akacji

Everything is in bloom now - it's really beautiful and one can smell spring mix of sweet fragrances. There's more then enough of  nutritious "weeds" and fresh flowers, which can be used in the kitchen and of course are being used by us as often as possible. My favourites (apart from the nettle) are acacia flowers - tasting so sweet! May -probably the best time to visit Poland, although the following months are good as well, this country changes so much once the spring and summer arrive. The life energy fulfills the veins:) We spent beginning of the month in Sulow making sure that Kasia's and Tomek's animals were well fed and resting from being in the city. Then a short family visit in Krotoszyn. There was a chance to stroll in the forest, breath the smell of spring, touch the first delicate leaves and relax our eyes looking at all different shades of green. After the first long May weekend the time of work came though, for Luke at the plot, doing his favourite gardening and I had to get used to woken up by alarm every morning from Monday to Friday. It wasn't easy at first but I'm getting better now, the people I work with are very nice and the time flies. We haven't got a car yet, partly due to our indecision partly to the lack of free time. We're coping though;) There was a plan to spend this long weekend in the mountains but spring rains changed it so we'll just relax at home, meet friends and so on. I don't feel disappointed:))

Wszystko wokol kwitnie - jest naprawde pieknie i wszedzie czuc wiosenna mieszanke slodkich zapachow. Jest pod dostatkiem wartosciowych "chwastow" i swiezych kwiatow, ktore mozna wykorzystac do jedzenia, co oczywiscie robimy przy kazdej nadarzajacej sie okazji. Moim faworytem (oprócz pokrzywy) sa kwiaty akacji - sama slodycz! Maj - chyba najlepszy miesiac na wizyte w Polsce, chociaz kolejne tez sa calkiem dobre - ten kraj zmienia sie nie do poznania wiosna i latem. Energia zyciowa krazy w zylach ze zdwojona sila:) Poczatek maja spedzilismy w Sulowie dokarmiajac zwierzyniec Kasi i Tomka i odpoczywajac od miasta, pozniej krotka wizyta u rodziny w Krotoszynie. Mielismy okazje powloczyc sie po lesie, napawac sie zapachem wiosny, dotykiem pierwszych delikatnych lisci na drzewach oraz relaksowac oczy patrzac na mnostwo roznych odcieni zieleni. Po pierwszym dlugim majowym weekendzie zaczal sie czas pracy - Luke ma jej pod dostatkiem na dzialce, ja natomiast musialam sie przyzwyczaic do porannych budzikowych pobudek od poniedzialku do piatku. Nie bylo to latwe, ale juz w miare ok, szczegolnie, ze towarzystwo w pracy bardzo przyjemne i czas płynie szybko. Samochodu niestety jeszcze nie ma, po czesci wina naszego braku zdecydowania, po czesci braku czasu. Ale coz, jakos sobie radzimy;) Byl plan, zeby ten dlugi weekend spedzic w gorach, ale pogoda nie zapowiada sie najlepiej wiec padło na  relaks w domu, spotkania z przyjaciolmi i takie tam. Nie czuje sie rozczarowana:))

Przebudzenie / Awakening

Hola Amigos! It's been a long time since we last wrote anything on the blog. We decide to blame it on winter;) The truth is that it was really cold and long so we wished we could just hibernate and wake up in the spring. In a way it was a good time - I think we both have a better idea about the day to day winter reality on this side of the world, which is impossible to feel during a two weeks visit. There was time for kitchen experiments and meeting friends, playing cards, reading books... All the lazy winter staff. I had time to check out the care environment in here and it's not good so I left it quickly without wanting to go back. There was time to review the plans, discard some, improve others and leave some space to the fate:).  We did miss the warmth and the sunshine - but the spring finally arrived!!! The time of gardening has started and Luke is quite busy at the plot. I'm going to try myself in a new work area. We do feel more alive and we're looking forward to see what next day is going to bring. And I'm sure I'll write more often.

Hola Amigos! Minelo juz sporo czsu od ostatniego wpisu na blogu. Zdecysowalismy, ze obarczymy wina zime;) Prawda jest, ze byla bardzo zimna i dluga wiec marzylismy o tym, zeby moc sie zahibernowac i obudzic sie wiosna. W pewnym sensie byl to dobry czas - mysle, ze oboje mamy teraz lepsze pojecie o codziennym zimowym zyciu w tej czesci swiata, czego nie mozna poczuc podczas dwutygodniowej wizyty.  Byl czas na kuchenne eksperymenty oraz spotkania z przyjaciolmi, na granie w karty i czytanie ksiazek....Takie tam zimowe leniuchowanie. Mialam okazje poznac tutejsze srodowisko opieki nad osobami starszymi i nie jest dobrze, wiec szybko sie stamtad ulotnilam nie zamierzajac wrocic. Byl czas na przemyslenie planow, porzucenie niektorych z nich, udoskonalenie innych i pozostawienie reszty przeznaczeniu:). Tesknilismy za cieplem i sloncem , ale wiosna w koncu sie pojawila!!! Zaczal sie czas upraw i Luke ma dosc duzo pracy na dzialce. Ja mam zamiar sprobowac pracy w kompletnie nowym miejscu. Czujemy, ze ozywamy z wiosna i czekamy na to, co przyniesie kolejny dzien. Bede pisac czesciej.

Patagonia

Below are a few photos from my favourite bus journey through the northern part of Patagonia - a journey which made me realize the vast space in Argentina. Long roads with only few hills or not even that, from time to time a house or a farm appeared and with that view a great sensation of loneliness. Unforgettable views.

Dlugie drogi, na horyzoncie tylko suche wzgorza lub nawet nie, od czasu do czasu pojawial sie dom lub farma i widok taki napawal nas uczuciem osamotnienia. Niezapomniane widoki.

 

MELECA

One last thing we need to mention about our week of magic on Ilha do Mel in Brazil was our introduction to "Meleca". A drink sent down by the gods through the hands of a grey bearded man who has spent the last twenty odd years serving this divine nectar at his bar. We were blessed with this introduction thanks to our meeting with Luiz, whom we met at the train station in Curitiba en route to the island. We were in the hands of a good man who happened to share a Polish family name with that of Karolina's, this is not a coincidence, of that I am sure. Legend has it, according to a most reliable source, Luiz, who has seen the shores of Ilha do Mel before. The grey bearded man, who I like to call "the dude", went to the island after the death of a famous rock musician from Brazil, Raul Seixas, and opened this bar, "Toca do Raul", in his honour. Apparently, the dude, was most upset at the death of Raul and saw no other path in life other than the one he now walks on Honey island. Blessed are we that this is so, for the drink that he serves can only be described as heaven in a shot glass. A unique experience, for we are told that it is served no where else on the planet! A mixture of vodka, honey and a secret blend of various herbs, served chilled.

Good times were had with our newly acquainted friends, Luiz, Gabriel, Felipe and Mariana.

Musimy dodac jeszcze jedna, ostatnia juz historie z naszego pobytu na magiczej wyspie Ilha do Mel w Brazylii, a mianowicie nasze spotkanie z Melaca. Drink, ktory poznalismy dzieki naszemu spotkaniu z Luizem, ktory nas wtajemniczyl. Bez niego pewnie nigdy nie znalezlibysmy pewnego urytego wsrod palm baru, gdzie sedziwy brodacz z dluga siwa broda serwuje ow nektar. Legenda glosi, ze czlowik ten, przez Luke'a zwany "the dude" przybyla na wyspe po smierci znanego brazylijskiego muzyka rockowego, Raula Seixasa, i ku jego czci otworzyl tu bar "Toca do Raul". The dude byl jego wiernym fanem i nie wyobrazal sobie innej zyciowej drogi od tej, ktora podaza od 20stu lat na Miodowej Wyspie. Bar jest bardzo maly, ale jakze klimatyczny, najwieksza jego atrakcja jest drink Melaca - wymyslony i produkowany przez the dude. Melaca jest mieszanka wodki z miodem i specjalnie wyselekcjowanymi ziolami, ktore stanowia sekret jej smaku, serwowana schlodzona. Wyjatkowe doswiadczenie, ktorego nie mozna zaznac nigdzie indziej na ziemi. A wszystko to odbylo sie w doborobym towarzystwie, co widac na zdjeciach. Niezapomniany wieczor, wizyta w Toca do Raul byla tylko jego poczatkiem, pozniej udalismy sie na dyskoteke i poznalismy smak brazylijskiego funku. Ale to juz inna historia.
